How much does a professional diode laser machine cost?

What makes the price change, what to ask before buying a cheap machine and how to work out how long it takes to pay for itself in your centre.

Nirvana professional diode laser machine

The short answer

The price of a professional diode laser machine varies a lot. Marketplaces list imported machines for very little money, while machines made in Europe with training, a warranty and technical service cost quite a bit more.

For a beauty centre, the useful question is not how much the machine costs, but how much each session costs you and how many months it takes to pay for itself. A laser that breaks down and is out of action for weeks can end up costing more than one that costs twice as much.

Setting up your centre? Here is what equipment you need to open a beauty centre.

What makes the price change

Eight points to compare quotes fairly.

1Power and fluence

The energy the machine delivers per square centimetre (J/cm²). A wider fluence range lets you adjust the treatment to each skin and hair type.

2Wavelength

The 808–810 nm diode is the standard in professional hair removal. Check which wavelengths the machine uses and which skin phototypes it is indicated for.

3Shot speed

A fast sweeping mode (Motion type) cuts session time on large areas such as legs or back, which frees up your schedule.

4Handpiece and lifespan

Ask how many shots the handpiece lasts, how much a replacement costs and whether it has to leave your centre to be repaired.

5Documentation and certification

Ask for the technical documentation and certifications. They protect you in an inspection or a complaint.

6Training included

Laser hair removal means adjusting parameters to each phototype. Good training prevents burns, poor results and clients who never come back.

7Technical service and spare parts

If the laser stops, your schedule stops. Find out who repairs it, how long it takes and whether spare parts are readily available.

8Warranty

Compare how long the warranty lasts and exactly what it covers. A reseller warranty is not the same as a manufacturer warranty.

Before you buy a cheap machine

Imported diode lasers with no local distributor can look like a bargain. The problem comes with the first breakdown, when nobody can repair them, or when the machine does not perform as advertised.

Not all of them are bad, but it is worth asking these questions in writing before you pay.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a professional diode laser machine cost?

Is a cheap diode laser machine worth it?

It can turn out expensive if there is no technical service, no spare parts and no training. Before you buy, ask who repairs it, how long it takes and what warranty it has.
